Once again I had to bring attention to a great mind in the area of racism or racial relations in the U.S. This time Tim Wise has used his powers to shed some interesting light on the Tea Party Movement.
It goes without saying that much of the Tea Party members seem to be part of the fringe and if there are more level headed and rational people involved, you certainly don't know about them.
In general, these member of the Tea Party are the most vocal and in fact would not be getting any attention worth noting if it weren't for the fact that they reside on the fringe.
You get an assortment of complaints about the government and taxes and health care, etc., but almost no actual knowledge of policy or the workings of government. Not to mention, some of the most ridiculous hate/fear mongering I have ever seen.
In any case, when I try to discuss the racial aspect of this movement, I get dismissed as weak minded liberal that doesn't recognize patriotism and doesn't understand the movement. This is where Tim Wise steps in to give a helping hand.

Yes, you are reading correctly. we have revisited the classic by John Lennon. Star and DJ came to me with heavy enthusiasm for doing this piece, and at first I thought it was a strange selection. However I trusted the fellas knew what they're doing.
Sure enough it came out great and I am happy we did this. You can listen to the song
now , or download here.
Once again, the fellas of Genre have come together with me to collaborate on a new song. Well, actually an old song, but with our twist on it. In this instance I'm referring to the classic song by Bob Marley, No Woman, No Cry.
Now truth be told, the song didn't need a remake, but when I watched Genre perform it acoustically, I thought it would be great to do a studio version, so we put it together. i hope you enjoy it. Thanks

I am a fan of his work. When I first heard him I was so impressed with the passion with which he spoke, but more importantly with the details of his lectures. Some of what he said seemed obvious, but there was so much that I never thought of before, and I was happy to learn something from him. The talk which I linked below is a few years old, but it represents the main theme and message of all his talks.
Wassup everybody, I don't know if you remember but a while ago I began working with a group called Genre. The duo of DJ and Star, a guitarist and singer/songwriter, performed regularly throughout NJ and PA. Their style is a mixture of Alternative and Urban, which made a difference when we got together to collaborate on a new project. We have recently begun work on new music, but I wanted to share our first collaboration with you, as well as show you a little bit of Genre performing live. Listen to Speechless
and If you like the song, then you can download it here.
