I love to watch Scifi and disaster movies, so i had to go see this. I didn't have high expectations for anything but the special FX, and the movie turned out to be pretty much what i thought it would be, although a lot worse in some aspects.

The story was written by what appears to be a Borg who assimilated a lot from others movies in terms of the characters and the sub plot, as well as cliches galore and a little melodrama here and there.

Special attention should be paid to the awful science which made it possible for woody Harrelson to withstand the blast of a mega volcano (atomic level),
while standing at the rim of it, but only long enough to be crushed be oncoming terrain. Bad science also made it possible for John Cusack to outrun a pyroclastic flow in a beat up RV. Lot's more examples, but that should give you an idea.
